Trumpet Studies at Texas A&M University-Kingsville are designed to challenge each student to elevate his or her levels of musical and academic performance. The purpose of this site is to provide current, prospective, and former trumpet students of TAMU-K information about the trumpet studio, news, and event information. In addition to providing information for currently enrolled trumpet students and alumni, high school and transfer students interested in auditioning for the Department of Music will find some suggested trumpet audition repertoire and tips for a successful audition.

Welcome to another exciting Fall semester in the TAMU-K trumpet studio. We’re glad to see our returning students and welcome to all of our new transfer and first year students. This year is going to be quite busy and exciting! We are lining up our guest artists and making plans to hold auditions for a trumpet ensemble to represent our university at the National Trumpet Competition. If you have any questions about your schedule or need advising, just drop by the studio and see Dr. Carrillo.

Congratulations to Michael Acevedo
Mike has been accepted to the graduate programs in trumpet performance at the University of Southern California and The University of Texas. He has been offered scholarships to attend both. Congrats Mike!!!
TAMU-K Trumpet Quintet at National Trumpet Competition
Once again the trumpet quintet has been accepted as semi-finalists in the 2007 National Trumpet Competition Trumpet Ensemble Division. And Junior Music Ed. major Guillermo De La Cruz III has been accepted as a semi-finalist in the College Solo Division of the 2007 NTC. The 2007 quintet is comprised of Michael Acevedo, Rafael Alarcon Jr., Eduardo Bulnes, Guillermo De La Cruz, III, and Lucio Diaz Jr.

Edward has spent two years with the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps and will be aging out this year with the Phantom Regiment.

Noe will be spending his summer with the Crossmen
Esteban Gutierrez (Pharr)
Steve is spending the summer with the Blue Devils out in California.
Mike Valdez (Del Rio)
Mike will be joining the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps trumpet section for the 2008 season.
Charlie Wood (Harlingen)
Charlie will be spending the summer with the Crossmen.
